The Lord is definitely meeting with us during my eight day trip back to the “Creative Access Nation.” I am with our team sent out of Pacific Baptist Church in Long Beach for two Sundays, the midweek service, and four evenings of special Bible teaching. I am filling in for Brother KT while he is in the states with his daughter at the ACE Convention.

We had a wonderful Lord’s Day here. All three services, as well as next Sunday services, I am teaching on Paul’s Passions. On our first Sunday together, we dealt with the topics “Paul’s Passion that Christ would be Pre-eminent in His Life and Ministry,Paul’s Passion to Live for that which was Eternal,” and “Paul’s Passion to Continue to Grow in His Knowledge and Love for Jesus.”  Next Sunday, Lord willing, we will continue with “Paul’s Passion to Continue to Grow in His Knowledge and Love for Jesus,” along with “Paul’s Passion to Reach the Lost” (especially those in the unreached areas), and “Paul’s Passion to Disciple Men for Christ.”  During our special sessions Monday – Friday we will be considering “The Importance of Prayer in Paul’s Life.”

While the group here may be few in number there is much potential. Another small group has merged with them for the time being. Between the two groups they have a handful of young people who are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus, and it was very apparent after spending a week with them they want to go forward for Christ in the midst of the difficult circumstances here in this country.

Please pray that God will bless these times we have together and raise up a handful of passionate and praying people here in this country!

As always, recent days here in Phnom Penh have been extremely busy and blessed beyond measure. Our visitation efforts in Steung Mean Chey are really beginning to show some exciting results. In the past two weeks, just from Vannak, Adrian, my niece Sue, and my time visiting on Tuesdays, six brand new adults have visited our services. Three of them returned for a second visit. Also, over the last two weeks it has been a blessing to have Pov and her 22-year old daughter attend our service. At one time, they were faithful members of another church in Phnom Penh for over ten years. Apparently, something happened and they have been out of church for the past four years.

Not sure where to start on this blessing! There’s a lot of background to this story so I will attempt to keep it short. Man and I have been trying to work with some of the local university students here in town. It hasn’t gone as well as we had hoped and prayed, but through it we met a young man named Phalla, who I am presently discipling on Saturdays after soul-winning/visitation. We have had Phalla and Nissa (Phalla’s girlfriend) over our house a few times, as well as taken them out for a couple of meals. Two week’s ago, Man’s wife Kanha led Nissa to Christ. Nissa hasn’t missed a service since! She also started bringing one of her friend’s Sokchea. Well, Kanha just led Sokchea to Christ also. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Things got going as soon as I returned from my trip out of the country. On Sunday I took Phalla, Nissa, Man, his wife Kanha,  and Joy, out for lunch right after the morning service. Phalla is one of the university students we have been working with who is a new Christian and I also have been discipling. Nissa is his girlfriend who wasn’t saved yet, but attending a few services and has also been over our house a few times. A few days later Nissa asked Kanha if she could come over and learn more about salvation and Kanha led her to Christ!

This past week or so was an extremely busy and blessed one. As most of you know, I flew into the “Creative Access” Nation where my wife and I served for 17 months when first arriving in Southeast Asia two years ago. On Sunday morning I preached twice for a Filipino congregation in the capital city. God really did move in a special way! This is the church that Denise and I, along with the rest of our team, were a part of for Sunday mornings when we were in the country. I was blessed to be able to preach every Sunday morning for these folks while we were based in the country, and they have a special place in my heart. I love the pastor (Aaron Inventor), his family, and I love the people dearly!

Preaching for our Filipino friends in Creative Access Nation!

Please pray that God will continue to use this church to be a lighthouse in a nation that has less than 2 percent of it population profess to be a “Christian!”

My wife has just returned from the states. She flew back to be with my daughter Jessica, who was recovering from surgery, and assisting my daughter-in-law Hannah, who just had our 15th grandchild. She was greatly missed that’s for sure. While my wife has been gone, my daughter Joy and niece Susanna have done their best to pick up the slack and have been a great help and blessing to me.

It’s so hard to believe that my wife and I have now been in Southeast Asia for over two years. Our journey with Jesus in this part of the world has been exciting, and we are so grateful for our family and friends back home who are faithfully lifting up our names and our needs to our Father in heaven, and those who are going the second mile and helping to finance our needs and the work here in Southeast Asia.

This past weekend was a great one. It was a God-blessed weekend for sure! On Saturday morning Man and I visited together. We had three or four really good visits, but by far, our best visit was with a man named Sok. Man has been visiting Sok for a while now. In the past, he has not been very receptive to hearing the gospel and was not at all interested in visiting one of our church services. I had the opportunity to share the gospel with him for 30-40 minutes (Man interpreting for me) and he was really open. I invited him to our celebration service, which he did attend, and had the opportunity to hear the gospel once again. Our folks did a wonderful job making him feel loved!

In the past week and a half, since my last update, we have had so many different things take place, I don’t know what to include and what to leave out. Of course, as we mentioned in our last update, my nephew Joseph and two nieces (Susanna and Jojo) arrived in the country about two weeks ago. They stayed busy doing a lot of ministry while they were here. Joseph and Jojo headed back to the states a few days ago. Sue was left behind! Sue is a sweet girl, who loves Jesus and loves people, and she can play the piano. Praise the Lord! No doubt, she will be a tremendous blessing to the work here. Lord willing, she will be with us for six months, and you never know, maybe longer!

Please pray for Sue to get adjusted to a new country, a new culture, and a new way of life and that God will use her for His glory for however long she will be with us!

I recently had the chance to spend a weekend with missionary Walter Poole. On Saturday we went soul winning together. We had some really great visits, but by far the best was when I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with a woman named Sokthea. I hope that’s spelled right! 🙂 She listened attentively for some 30-40 minutes, and was really close to trusting Christ, when all of a sudden her husband, a police officer, rode up on his motorbike. We left the family with some Gospel literature and I promised to send them some more. Brother Walter will follow up on them in the days to come.

The first ten days of this month have been busy and at times hectic. Of course, there have been our regular responsibilities, such as discipling 10-12 guys weekly, teaching in our Bible Institute, soul winning and visitation, teaching in our Wednesday evening Worker’s Meeting, and preaching.
